5 Essential Summer Reads
I'm not going to lie...it's been a while since I've actually sat down and read a book cover to cover (other than one I had to for school). But luckily we all have a bit more free time in the summer, which can be spent out in the sun, by a dock, on a beach, or even on a sailboat! For those of you hoping this is finally "the" summer you become an avid reader, I've compiled a list of 5 must reads from some very inspiring ladies.
1. You Are a Mogul (Tiffany Pham)
Tiffany was featured in Forbes' "30 under 30" after creating a mobile platform for young women to connect with others and share their goals. Her book touches on all of the business endeavours and decisions that allowed her to become her own boss and inspire change in communities across the world.
2. Lean In (Sheryl Sandberg)
The Facebook COO's biography sheds light on why women are obtaining leadership positions at a slower rate than men and how we (all) can go about changing the status quo.
3. 10 Essentials for the Motivated Millennial (Robyn Tingley)
A book written specifically for new grads, the "10 essentials for the Motivated Millennial" provides readers will everything they need to know before entering the workforce.
4. Year of Yes (Shonda Rhimes)
I was inclined to start reading this book after having watched Shonda's TED Talk; "My year of saying yes to everything". In her book, she shares the many ways she was able overcome her fears and start saying yes to new experiences and opportunities.
5. Becoming (Michelle Obama)
This one almost goes without saying, but I had to mention it. Michelle's book "Becoming" has inspired many women (and men!) since it was released back in November.
