"Be a Leader of Today": Recap
This past weekend the Rowe Women in Business Association hosted its 4th annual conference at Dalhousie University. Delegates from Cape Breton University, SMU, Acadia, and many more universities from across the East Coast came together to partake in a two day long event. The conference featured four keynote speakers, a panel of four local entrepreneurs, an interactive workshop, a guided meditation, and numerous networking opportunities. We left the conference filled with new inspirations, goals, and the confidence of knowing that the business community is progressing towards a more inclusive and welcoming environment for both men and women.
Here's what our delegates have to say:
"WIBA's Be a Leader of Today Conference was a welcoming introduction to the business world and a great opportunity for me as a first year Commerce student. Hearing Taye Landry's moving speech about working hard and achieving goals was inspirational and I am excited to see what the next conference holds!"
- Clare Kilgour, 1st year, Commerce, Dalhousie University
"I really enjoyed the variety of speakers, both on the panel as well as the keynotes. Their stories were inspiring, relatable, and empowering. In addition, the opportunity to network and collaborate with the other delegates was so valuable." - Taylor Fulmore, 4th year, Commerce, Saint Mary's University
"As a student in the social sciences I have found it difficult in the past to find opportunities to learn about business and entrepreneurship, even though business is applicable in all fields! The WIBA conference was such an incredible opportunity for me to learn more about the business world, get inspired, and meet students from all different backgrounds. Not only did each speaker share their story and insights, but also each of the delegates that I met or reconnected with had their unique background and passion to share. We were all learning together, working together, supporting each other, and encouraging each other to reach our full potential!" - Emily Donald, 4th year, Sociology, Dalhousie University
"Being a first year student attending the WIBA conference I did not know what to expect. The conference blew me away with inspiring keynote speakers, engaging activities and an opportunity to experience a real life case competition. Thank you WIBA for organizing such an amazing event!" - Hope Rikhtegar, 1st year, Commerce, Dalhousie University
"The Rowe WIBA conference was a great experience! Hearing the stories of such successful and strong women was truly inspiring. I was definitely able to take away tangible lessons I can apply to my career." - Tiana Vuckovic, 4th year, Commerce, Dalhousie University
"I can't begin to express my gratitude to have these type of opportunities. Getting to know the future leaders of business, as well as building your own skill sets to advance your career, is an opportunity I would recommend to any woman entering the work force. Women in business organizations such as this one, are shaping the industry right before our eyes." - Haley Whittle, 3rd year, Business, Cape Breton University
